Prenatal Diagnosis
Till recently , couples at high risk for genetic disorders had to choose from either take the risk with its associated pressures and resultant stress or consider other reproductive options
It was in 1966, when the relation of advanced maternal
age and increased incidence of Downs syndrome was noted,
that the concept of prenatal diagnosis
came into practice.
The principal goal of prenatal diagnosis
to supply at-risk families with information so that they
can make informed choices during pregnancy
Prenatal diagnosis deals with the detection
of abnormal conditions in the fetus and to differentiate
them from normal fetal development.
